The Colour Rule

Struggling to coordinate your outfits? I got you. It’s going to be mindblowing when you know how this single trick can save your time in the morning.

It’s a simple 3 colour rule based on the fact that one’s outfit doesn’t exceed more than 3 colours at a time.

Neutrals

Let’s start off with neutrals. White, black and brown are the most common neutrals we see people wearing, but do you know that navy and grey are also neutrals?

Neutrals are like the flexible base of your outfits, you can sort of treat them as “invisible” because they will not disrupt your outfit by being too loud or catchy. They match with literally anything, hence it is easy to integrate them into any outfits. You can actually go up to 4 colours with black and white because they are technically shades!

Patterns

Here comes the question of whether wearing colourful patterned clothes are counted in this rule. I wouldn’t say it is. To easily incorporate patterns into your wardrobe, the other accessories and clothes that you are going to wear with it can be of colours already in the pattern.

For instance, in the picture above, I’m wearing a striped blue and white jumpsuit. My shoes are white too and I decided to add on a pair of neutral brown sunglasses. The highlight of my outfit would be my jumpsuit.

Pop of colour

If you want a specific highlight in your outfit, like a red bag, you can keep the rest of your outfit minimal and maybe even monotone. That way, the red bag will truly draw attention and be the main point.

Jewelry

As for jewelry, I like delicate ones compared to a large chunky one since I like to wear a few at once. The colours are always of the same tone, such as gold and rose gold; they both belong to warm tone. If you wear silver, it’s best to keep it to only silver because it’s more of a cool tone.

Most importantly, have fun trying different combinations! Do what makes you happy <3
